Thanks for the site. I can relate to the drug story. It seems like eons ago, but I used to do a ton of speed (intravenously). My ex was a chemist who could make anything. (he passed away at 40) One day as we were injecting the latest he made the comment "Oh no, I think I left some mercury in here." I remember wondering what injecting mercury would do to someone. I too spent a long time in AA and NA and love the steps. I just started eating raw recently - 3 months. I can't say I love it-it is more the sense that it is the very right thing to do. Just as I can't say I love breathing. The biggest change that I have noticed is that I realize how much of food (and life) is all marketing. The 10 lbs I have lost so far is also a treat.

Hi, I like reading you webpage. It strengthened my views to be a confirmed Fruitarian, which I think, is my highest accomplishment in my health life. I'm glad Hitler was a Fruitarian. But at the moment I have no option. I'm living in a school - a vegetarian school where foods are cooked. Maybe when I graduate. The point is that Fruitarianism in your webpage had indelibly left its imprint in my memory and principles. Thanks a lot. Would you sell you books in SM Davao City, Philippines also? Please tell me when.

Great to see that so many people eat live food. My cookbook, Eldamar, is vegan but with some cooked food to accommodate this northern climate I live in. I studied at Hippocates Health Institue, Boston in the early 1970's with raw food enthusiasts like Victoras Kulvinskas, and Terra Coon. If Terra is reading this, please contact me at mfwhiteasundernl.rogers.com . Would love to catch up on your exploits since then. Marian (Alimar) White

How good it is to have found your website! I have developed a grassroots-based community raw food diet here in Western Australia, with much success amongst cancer-, arthritis-, and heart disease patients; and have eaten mainly raw food over the past five years with a group of friends; there is no looking back! We are feeling much younger now than ten years ago, and are jokingly referring to ourselves as "sexygenarians", not , "sexagenarians" any more!

Dear Ben,

Your father tells me that you are considering joining the military effort by the united states to support bush in iraq.

I am sorry for writing this letter; it is all I can do. I dont expect to alter any of your actions, choices, beliefs, urges or needs. I just want you to know that I am telling you that this is a very bad idea. Years from now, should you live so long, should you ever heal, you will remember that I told you so. I am telling you now.

I have a lot of resentments based on desertion. I whine, why didnt anyone tell me. Therefore, I am telling you now. That way, maybe we can still be friends later, because I would never forgive anyone who didnt warn me.

First, have you noticed how the soldiers are all under thirty, many are under twenty. I am going to tell you why they are so young. Yes, it is true that many people run slower after they are thirty. After thirty, people dont have as much energy as they used to. Older people have more ties to wives and children than teenagers. So it makes sense, for all these reasons, that younger people make better soldiers. But that is not really why the soldiers are so young.

The reason why the soldiers are so young, is because: the older generation has seen this garbage before. They have already heard the rap song, and just cant dance to it anymore. They read the newspapers and see how the government supplied information gives us a heads up as to what the future will hold. Maybe old men might want you to fight, but they would never go themselves. Not for this crap again.

If you were in trouble, and you needed violent help, you could ask me. I am sure I could help you more than your high school chums. I may not be able to run as fast as young men but at least I know where I am going. If I was going to war, I know some people I would like to take with me, and they are all over thirty. But I would never fight in this war. Actually thats not true. I am fighting in this war, just not on your side.

The war is between the state and the people. The rich and the poor. The old and the young. The ugly and the innocent. Have you noticed how the drug war has morphed into the war on terrorism. One day it was necessary to storm into homes, search cars and body holes for the drug war; for the sake of the children. Now we have to undergo searches and give more money for the war on terrorism.

When I was in my twenties, the GBI (georgia bureau of investigation) and the atlanta police, with a search warrant and drawn guns, invaded my home to search for pot. I gave them all they found when they first came in, around two grams or 3 joints. They tore the place up anyway. How dare they? How dare you?

In order to ban abortions, they procure the right to look inside your body. How dare the demonstrators dont complain about all invasive abuses, instead of just their own. How dare you?

If I break my leg and need it to be set, I must go to a doctor that is certified by the state. Even if I know someone that I would like to go to instead, it is illegal. The medical profession has a lock on all healing. It is illegal to heal any other way. It is illegal for me to choose my health procedures. How dare they? How dare you?

The government talks about the freedom of speech, as if it is a luxury gift. That is a lie. We are born with freedom of speech, its the government who restricts it. Just for saying fuck, you can be sentenced to jail and buttfucked. Every little squirt knows that sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you. The state though, has different rules. How dare they? How dare you?

The state feeds from two troughs.
  1. money
  2. humiliation

  1. money every transaction is taxed. When you make money you pay taxes; when you spend money you pay taxes. When you drive somewhere you pay taxes. When you listen to music, eat or move; you pay taxes. The state feels entitled to monitor every transaction, in order to make sure they receive their money. If I trade you an apple for a pear, the state would consider that a barter transaction, and taxes it accordingly. If you have sex with someone, it becomes tricky to tax the different levels, party because its illegal to talk about it.
I do not think that the state has the right to search every body cavity inorder to make sure they are getting paid. In fact, it is not their right; it is their spoils. How dare they? How dare you?

  2. humiliation people like to boss other people. Egos demand power. What good is money if you cant make people do what you want? You can only get so much mileage out of things. We need to dominate others. We need to prove we dominate others by making them do stupid stuff. How much of government regulated activities are a waste of time. They are wasting my time. How dare they? How dare you?

If you goto iraq, you will not be a freedom fighter. You will be a tax collector. It will be your job to make sure that the average iraqi pays their utility bills on time. And that the businesses and people in iraq will honor the debts that saddam hussein guaranteed. Thats what this war is about. Maybe you dont understand that. Maybe you disagree. Maybe you think I am wrong and you are right.

Just know that, for this untruth, you are betting your life, my life and the lives of others that should be no business of yours. You are betting your life that you are right and I am wrong. That is not like getting a wrong answer on the trig final. That is something that you will regret for the rest of your life, if you are ever to be so lucky.

In closing, let me say, that when I see you on the battlefield, I will try not to hurt you. But I will show no regard to your flanking nazis.

ps I have met lots of germans. And while I have some unfinished business and resentments for the killing of half my relatives, I tried to be open minded. While I was traveling I have met many germans. I have spent time with them and traveled with them. They were the nicest people I have ever met. I just couldnt believe it. How could such beautiful and kind people commit such an atrocity? The germans are really no worse than the americans. I am just hoping you can be smarter than the average human.

If you dont join the military, I will give you my collection of ties. If you join the military, and anyone asks me about you, I will say, ben, oh, hes a fuckin idiot

Hello Rynn: Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Your new book on Hilter as non-vegetarian is a must read! I thoroughly enjoyed the historical perspective and detailed research. I started reading a few pages and could not put it down. As a long time vegetarian I am glad this myth now has credible proof that Hitler was indeed a meat eater (as well as a non-humanitarian towards sentient animals). Also, I want to display some or all of your books in the spring/summer bookcase at Second Avenue Hare Krsna temple. I must ask for your patience since the Temple Commander is still out of town. Perhaps you would be willing to display a few books and I can place orders via email. I am so pleased Srila Prabhupada has a place in your books. Thanking you again for your literary accomplishments and helping to make this a more humane planet for all entities. Hare Krsna! Regards, Sydney Roy this is my new and secondary email. Also,
Syd

Read many recipes, usually reject as either unhealthy or likely not delicious. Not catagorized..just have found I feel better if I eat lots of vegatbles, slightly less fruit, even less seafood, and almost no meat or carbohydrates. HAve recently reduced weight 10%. Looking for good carrot recipe for a gathering..believe the dried cranberry/fresh orange.. really can't wait! Love to see that look when someone eats something that grabs their attention. HI, i just read your health history sounds a lot like mine. about 10 years ago i started to gain weight dispite eating a healthy diet (no chunk food, no chips, no sodas, no chocolate ) lots of fresh fruit and vegetables(we had our own garden and own fruit trees). i started to loose my hair(patches the size of golf balls the spots alternated all over my head one time i had 11 places another time it was almost the lower part of the back of my head then the on the side) i shaved my head to 3mm most of the time because then the bald patches weren't so noticeable. i started to do yoga, i walked a lot i lived in the country so i had plenty of opportunity there. Plus i have 4 children i had chronic backache some days i litteraly had to crawl up down the stairs i could hardly do my housework let alone work in the garden or do anything else. then i became infested with emotional eczema from top to toe i can not describe the pain i was in. no doctor could help me with any of these ailments except give some cremes or pills which did not help at all. at one time i got six injections for my backpain in one week. then i begun having bloodsugar problems it was always to low( hypoclecimic excuse my spelling i am german and trying my best). they put me in the hospital for cancer testing (which were negative) but let me tell you this when they gave me the referal slip with the suspected diagnosis of cancer i really thought that is it. i cried for days but during those days i got my long forgotten bible out and started to read. i thought if the doctors have no answers for me maybe god does. it is not that in all these years before i didn't think there was a god but i did not believe in the word of god. (i have also seen homeopathic doctors antroposhic doctors naturapathic doctors chiropractors) and let me tell you about the power of your mind i used to snap my back on a regular basis but until then i did not believe in that either, it was just before we moved to the US about 2 years ago i was living with my mother and i was afraid to tell her that i (and my family) going to move to america, so my husband told her. i was sitting on the couch when my mother came into the living room and i felt something snap in my back i was not able to get up. while i was here i went to the doctor with my mother in law once and she kept on insisting that her doctor was the best, so i said if she can tell me why i am loosing my hair she is indeed good. she was able to tell me, she said it is a stress related hair loss.but also something else happened i now believe in the word of god, it doesn't do any good just to read the bible we must also believe what it says.just the other day i bought this little book called the spiritual roots of barley and in there it said mankind has taken the word of god out of their lives and also the foods of god. it made me think for a moment and i thought i have been eating foods of good (i also had a health food store) but i did not have the word of god in my life. and if you think about it we live live on a plain of duality which means everything has to sides, and i looked at it that like a scale if you don't have the same amount on each side one side drops like a rock and so do you. i used to be the kind of person who thought i have to manage everything by myself i have to have everything under control only i can do noone else can that creates a lot of stress in ones life that is stress that is with you 24/7 it is not like going to work and after so many hours you go home and leave everything behind until the next morning. i have lost quite a lot of weight since last september(2003) i went from size 18/20 to a size 12. The most important thing i learned since then we must surrender to the higher power and we will be taken care of and always the way we want to but the way HE wants to it is always gods way or there is high price to pay and it isn't always easy to understand gods way. i hope this has helped you in some way may GOD BLESS YOU on your way to recovery and back to life. So long for now. God works in mysterious ways - remember.

I was a waiter in Los Angeles for 2 years. I think your web site must be very popular in Hell-a. Keep up the inspirational work. Never, ever be satisfied and always ask for a free meal! Also, always have food delivered and say it was all wrong and demand the right order thus getting 2 fer 1 and coupons from corporate headquarters. I once called my restaurant and complained that they gave me the wrong dressing and demanded a free steak and I got it!Remember most managers are absolute Morons . Take advantage of everthing all the time and live almost for free. Chains are the easiest as a manager doesnt care about food cost. Its a kitchen problem he only cares about complaints.I think Louises trattoria's in Los Angeles is a very easy place to test my theories. If you can keep the food down. It beats the shelters food. I was a member of the Fruitarian Network until 1999, as I live in an isolated region I found the going very difficult, varities of fruit except in summer, difficult to obtain, certainly not organic and having already been transported from Melbourne, also the lack of like minded folk the closest being Dalesford, Vic, adds to the feeling of isolation, anyway one does the best with what is on offer. I am in the midst of setting up a Community garden in Deniliquin. Cheers and in good health to all........Jan Renwick/

I eat and live raw foods. Its hard to find others. Has anyone heard of the Essene teachings? Or are there any groups that meet in Mississauga, Ontario. We need some. Here is a little info.............. Vegetarianism was REQUIRED by Jesus of any person who wanted to become his disciple. In "Holy Twelve" we read: Jesus said: "Verily I say unto you, they who partake of benefits which are gotten by wronging one of God's creatures, cannot be righteous; nor can they understand holy things, or teach the mysteries of the kingdom, whose hands are stained with blood, or whose mouths are defiled with flesh." "God giveth the grains and the fruits of the earth for food; and for righteous man truly there is no other lawful sustenance for the body..." "Wherefore I say unto all who desire to be my disciples, keep your hands from bloodshed and let no flesh meat enter your mouths, for God is just and bountiful who ordaineth that man shall live by the fruits and seeds of the earth alone." Hi JR and all, I have followed the latest on this group remotely and have some related deep thoughts. Raw can be a full part time job, especially from here in the sub arctics (Reykjavik). About the D-vitamins, the arctic summer may be short here, however Alaska is known as the place for growing the largest vegetables on this planet, the sun never sets there in the high summer, so when those Alaskan D-vitamins are stored they should last all winter. B12, these days I get that mostly from some organic non MSG beer yeast extract, take a full spoon of powder, mix it in my mouth and then this mix tastes like good beer. Vegetarian for over a decade, functional - Raw for about a year, failed successfully. I blame time and I'm definitely starting over again, Raw that is. One more more thing, I discovered that I got into the Yoga very naturally when becoming malnourished, Yoga knocked on my door so to speak. Before that I would hardly have noticed it, and now when I start becoming overfed, I lost a lot of that natural understanding. Best from Albert

Hi, this is my first time on this sight.I am just starting to see for myself the great benefits of vegetarian eating. I have not eaten any meat or eggs or milk for 2 weeks .I have noticed more energy more endurance.I would like to be reassured that I am not depleting myself in protein. What is the rule.I eat at least a handful of nuts a day.I have 2 teaspoons of nutritional yeast either on popcorn or in a cup of hot water.. Hope to hear from you.Suzanne Spencer

God provides, when I found this site. Thanks! I am struggling with my raw food diet and seek a support group which I need more than once a week. I am good for as long as 4 or 6 month, than I fall off like an addict. Either the cold weather knocks me off, or this powerful craving for carbos and cooked food. Right now I do 80%, fruits in the morning and raw vedgies later and little nuts, seeds, dried fruits and by the 3rd day I need something cooked due to my cooked food addiction. Appreciate any communications and suggestions you can offer. I believe it is the ultimate food, creating harmony for the body and preventing illness.Check out Waynegreen.com

I would like to go rawvegan if it could be more simple to cook. I can't believe you really have to use juicers or to sprout grain in order to eat raw. I don't find it all very natural, or simple enough. Apes surely don't do that. Please answer me somebody! Michelle Montminy

Natures First Law: The Raw Food Diet was blatantly plagiarized from the classic book "Raw Eating" by Arshavir Ter Hovannessian. In fact, the trio is the foremost authority on plagiarism in the raw food movement and their website is censored. This involves the deletion of any mention of their acts of plagiarism, which occurred more than once. The classic original has been recently reprinted. Get the original, instead.

In1983, due to Medical Negligence , I developed Brain Damage which included Right Front Lobe in the 10% damage. Therefore, Doctors declared "no treatment available & future exascerbations likely " In 1987. I could walk [at] talk but had poor recall of talent or of my past.As a Positive Thinking Person, I have done the impossible. Firstly,it was necessary to reteach myself by reading & reading (I still do). Raw Food only was adopted and easy as I lived alone and in my own little world ,A MRI and a CT Scan last year reveal NO DAMAGE and ALL SORTS OF TESTS by a Neurologist caused him to exclaim " You have not a toxin in your body and the MRI declared No Damage. You are a WALKING MIRACLE and THE MOST AMAZING PERSON I HAVE MET , what is your secret? RAW FOOD ONLY IS EATEN and no alcohol or cigarettes and I walk away from stress. He replied " you are the living proof that you are what you eat is 100% correct" Serious cuts and etc. never get infected but heal quickly . My life has consisted of similar amazing examples which shall be conveyed to those who ask . E-mail me if you so wish .... Bye Bye

Hi! I started out the new year ('04) all raw. Usually I am about 75%. Well, I did 100% raw until a couple days again when I felt uncontrollable cravings. Up to that point it had been so easy. Now I realize how addicted I am! Yikes! I was bummed..nut am back to 100%..it seems harder to do less than 100% for me. Being a mom w/ 2 kids and having a non-raw hubby makes it more difficult.

Eating lifefood seems to allow the infilling of light into my total awareness. Staying raw makes me have to FEEL. Eating cooked food masks my feelings (one can self-medicate with grains, sugars and dairy, stimulating the pleasure center of the brain). Feelings are the door to POWER. Therefore, eating lifefood keeps me in a state of emptiness (able to receive) and empowerment (able to do). Lifefood (food with life force and easy to digest) is the BEST way to eat to stay on top of the energy wave of this reality. Life food is the optimum diet for Jedi knights, alchemists, Wanderers and co-creatives who are here to create the NEW REALITY of heaven-on-earth, back to nature, and living within a multidimensional awareness. Raw = willingness to see and know and experience the Truth, and a willingness to expand, to grow, to serve, to transmute, and to resurrect these dense bodies into a higher frequency, --- creating our light bodies.

I'm considering heavily the raw food way of life. I'm a vegan for a number of years now. I'm 73 years and in fairly good health; would like to be in better health and be able to witness for the vegan raw food way of living and eating. I've ordered a book on it My question, cIf I eat raw food 75% of the day and cooked food (only homemade bread from organic ingredients) would I still benefit from this way of eating? I'm vegan first for ethical reasons and do what I can for the animals by writing, wearing message shirts and talking to whomever will listen. One other question: How about organic soy milk? Would that be considered raw? Thanks for answering and thanks for your great website. Billie Signer

I've been doing the live rawfood thing for around ten years and also am involved with a lifestyle to match it like out door edible landscaping, meditation, striving for a daily natural rythym expending energy during the day and retracting relaxing at nite. However, I must say that finding others who are value and "live" this seems real un comon-but I know you are out there and that's why the internet is so powerful as a tool! So I put my antenna out in search of others searching for me who are already living this lifestyle or are searching to establish such a lifestyle letting go of all the agitation at the same time still living within reason to the mainstream condition. In other words I'm not an extremist and see myself incremently transitioning with others who are close to above/below where I am resonating at. Thanx for any info you can communicate to me about possible communities existing and non who are really manifesting this lifestyle in a physical and mental spiritual environment to match it. Thanx so much...peace to you....

haven't read yet what is this "rawtime" all about,my perception is that it is something to do with healthy diet. i'm a devotee of "fasting" two years ago, mainly on distill water/liqiud fast(which i have once a week for twenty four hours fast)it really works when come to reducing weight, body detoxification, rejuvenating, recharge etc .the most important thing is that by applying this kind of "fast",it won't affect your health but have your immune system improved.

I gave up mammal meat in October 2001, then all meat in October 2002, and by August 2003 started eliminating all animal products. Turning vegan has been quite a challenge. The Raw Food Diet I've been learning about and practicing since November 2003 has given me more structure and motivation than aspiring to be vegan alone. It's been life changing.

Hello Raw Times, I have just purchased a mini juicer/ with a pulp extractor built in. I would like to know some good recipes for fruit and Vegs. I would appreciate any help you could offer. Thanks Beau Harrison

Sat nam Anne (and everyone!) I swear that I have been looking for you my whole life. I am a 19 year old woman from Vancouver BC Canada. As most kids, I delt with depression on and off from a young age until now, and I am turning 20 this month. Not until last year did I realize the severity of the connection between my mood and my diet. I first became educated about raw eating when a friend who was raw came and lived with me on Christmas day until the 28th of '03. I had randomly heard about eating raw and up until then had thought the people to be nuts!To make a long story short. I moved to Hawaii to eat raw after a success of 2 months raw ended at my brothers birthday party. In hawaii I was great for 2 months (experiencing my Self/love unlike anyother time in my life up until then) until a friend came to visit and got me into yoga. My dedication/dicipline shifted to the study of Kundalini yoga and I now am in a course on my way to becomming a teacher. Since then I have gained 20 lbs. going on and off raw for over 6 months. My inspiration and confidence has not been so high as all I have wanted to eat is fruit but EVERYONE has told me that the sugar is the source of my confussion. I know that I want to eat only fruit but have not been able to find the support in the raw food community of eating only sweet fruits. Ground fruits (which are never sweet) have not made sence to me this whole year so I could never get up the self esteem and confidence in my own intuition to go for it. After 12 months of struggle, I feel more at peace with myself after having read about you and your son. I am currious as to what your son enjoys about nuts. Pure curiosity. I am excited to know about raw Aquarian children as they are so unique. I will be working with a mother who is transitioning her autistic daughter to raw in a week or so over the nest few months. Thank you so much. You have been truly a blessing to me. I will be living in a raw house hold in London this July/August. I hope that if this email does get through to you, that I will be able to meet such an inspiring soul. Thank you again, may you always exist in healthiness, happiness and holiness! humbly, Hansmukh :)

I was so fascinated by the article on raw eating that I wrote to the author in Teheran. However, I was very disappointed to read that he may have been arrested. I would love to correspond with anyone who is a beginner with raw eating. I am and live in Norway where most fresh products are imported because of the long winter months.

I agree with what I have just read. I have come to the realization that cooked foods are addictive, and this lies at the bottom of all other addictions. This has a direct effect on everything in my life, including my realtions with others, and basically for me means the difference between life and death. I have reached the point where I know I have to choose either one or the other. It is a lonely feeling however, when I realize that the majority of the world is going the path to destruction. And even my own children have no interest. I can see that they are at the place I use to be, and their inevitable gain will be illness and deterioration. I can only hope and pray, that I can turn my own life around and be an example for others, before it is too late. Thanks for letting me say this. --Mary Annar
