Hal,

Well, some people say stuttering is psychological, so maybe he had
psychological repair in 3 weeks. Hard to say. It certainly could have
been physical.

As for the bald spot, that's liable to be a toughie. I've got a thinning
area back there that hasn't yielded to 8 years raw and several 10+ day
fasts.

>Here again, would providing new blood supply regenerate nerves that have

Not by itself, but it's a prerequisite. Hard to know what your body is
capable of unless you give it a chance.

Kelvin,

Sounds like a piece of cake, but I've only ever had one lucid dream that
I can recall, and that one when I was a child.

Oh, well...

Judy,

Try coconut butter. I think Omega Nutrition makes it. You don't need to
use much of it. If it doesn't work for your hair, you can use it as a skin
moisturizer. You can even eat it -- it's raw. Cheap, too.

Kelvin
  >>

I would think coconut butter would be greasy, no? And it's an ingredient in
an Aubrey facial moisturizer I have, but the problem is, it doesn't allow the
skin to breathe. Ironically, the chemical moisturizers (such as Neutrogena)
are formulated to feel smooth on the skin, and to allow the skin to breathe.

Omegas coconut butter works great. Just use small amounts. You can also try
olive oil. I use that for too. Put a small amount on your hand, rub your
hands together and work it into your hair. If you use the right amount it is
not greasy and it makes your hair feel thick and full.

Did you look directly at your physical body? And if you did, didn't it
frighten you? I'd be game to give it another try knowing it might be a
pleasant experience.

As I mentioned, my lucid dreams never lasted long but definitely increased in
length the more practiced I became. I understand that perception of time is
warped when in a dream state, so some of mine that I imagined were a few
minutes were probably seconds.

> Anyway, if you can have lucid dreams, you can easily have OBEs.

Good, as long as it doesn't scare the skin off of me.

> For me, the hard part is getting into the lucid dream.

The one trigger mechanism that I mentioned worked every time for me; when you
realize that you are dreaming, just look at a part of your own body.

Interesting; there is a Richard Bach book (can't recall the name at the moment)
where he chronicles his romance / soul-mateship with a woman, and describes in
detail how they dreamed together regularly. Way cool if you can do that.

Subject: [rawlife] Counter Point to The temporary closing of Shinui

Barry,
I have a mixed reaction to your message. First, I have no knowledge of
anyone in the living foods community in Atlanta bringing ill will on anyone
else. To do this, totally negates the benefit of doing the living foods
lifestyle. So if people eating raw foods but do not clear the negativity in
their emotional, social, spiritual, and professional lives, I can not see
how they can heal or take their lives to new levels. Rather than submit to
speculation, I would rather wish all the raw food businesses in the Atlanta
area well, because they are doing more to heal people and add quality to
their lives than anything else. I know all of the parties concerned and do
not believe any of them would jeopardize ANY of their successes for money or
control of our community (which is becoming quite large, too large for any
one of these businesses to handle singly). So for this reason, we need to
support everyone and every business that is helping to put Atlanta, Georgia
on the map as a major live food capitol.
We are disappointed that the Shinui Retreat has temporarily closed its
Saturday night feasts (I wanted some of their Bar-B-Que last night) but I am
certain that no one can keep a good thing down for very long. Rather than
accuse others of wrong doing, I would rather take an inclusive position and
continue to support everyone involved. As a graduate of the Living Food
Institute and a regular visitor and friend to the Shinui Retreat, I am in no
way compelled to become involved in anything divisive. These two businesses
are very different and serve different needs of our community. I was hoping
that all living foods businesses would have a live food expo here in
Atlanta. If we set it up where everyone is going for each other jugular
vein, nothing good like that will happen. In short, there is no smoking gun.
Barry, I have not had the pleasure of meeting you, so I do not know how
to gauge your email message to our group. However, I would encourage you,
others, and myself not to jump to conclusions about anyone in our community
without talking to all parties concerned. For me, this shows the most
respect to our community, our businesses, and ourselves. My prayer is that
no one will take their disappointment or suspicions out on anyone else, when
there are those of us working behind the scenes to solve Shinui Retreat's
challenges, rather than identify with the problem. Let's celebrate the good
news with each other, "Raw For Life" and be the loving community that I have
always known us to be.

Subject: [rawlife] hair loss, lucid dreams & OBEs, Yerba Mate

Hal,

David Wolfe says in The Sunfood Diet Success System that rubbing the oil of
a slice of mashed up hot pepper directly into the hair loss area with your
fingers will help dissolve waxy deposits which may have sealed off hair
follicles. He says to use only 1/4 of a small pepper, and to also apply
stone-pressed or cold-pressed extra virgin olive 2-5 minutes after the
pepper oil as this will tone down the pepper heat and soothe the skin. He
says to do this every day in the morning or evening for 3 weeks. He also
advises eating more organic alkaline fruits (papayas, figs, oranges), a
variety of green-leafed veggies, and occasional dulse or nori.

I'd be curious if this hot pepper idea has worked for anybody here. Since
I'm definitely losing hair, I think I'll give it a try. I keep waiting for
organic red jalapenos to show up at my market, but so far they're either
green or non-organic, but not both. Maybe I'll just try the green ones. I
doubt that my head knows the difference.

> Did you look directly at your physical body? And if you did, didn't it
> frighten you? I'd be game to give it another try knowing it might be a
> pleasant experience.

No, I don't think I was a bit frightened. I was really excited. But things
don't look the same when you're in that dimension. One time I looked down
at my bed and saw a woman. Another time I looked down and there was nobody
there. Come to think of it, I can't remember ever looking down and seeing
me the way I look in a mirror. Mostly I don't even look. I just want to go
flying or whatever, or (sigh) find a hot astral babe (don't tell my wife!).
I think the reason I stopped trying to have OBEs for so long was because I
figured I wasn't ready for them. I was still wanting sensual pleasures in a
non-sensual realm. Maybe this time it will be different.

> The one trigger mechanism that I mentioned worked every time for me; when
you
> realize that you are dreaming, just look at a part of your own body.

If you realize you are dreaming, you are already lucid. Try sticking your
hand through the wall and see what happens. If it goes through, that's a
pretty good clue! I have heard of this method of looking at your hand. I
think I tried it once and noticed that I had only four fingers. Another
time I was doing yoga and was amazed that I was doing unbelievable asanas,
way beyond my normal flexibility range. Stuff like this can jolt you lucid,
but it seems kind of hard to plan in advance. You just notice that things
are not quite normal and you wake up in the dream. Some people sell devices
you wear at night which start flashing a light when you go into REM sleep.
Some people say they work, others say they don't. I read something a while
back on the Internet from a guy who said he was having many lucid dreams a
week by using the method of waking up after 6 hours of sleep, staying up for
45 minutes, then going back to bed. I tried this twice. The first time it
worked, the second time it didn't. My lucid dreams always happen when I
have been in a dreamy kind of half awake, half asleep state, where I find
myself able to visualize imagery well.

> Would you say you are more concious, etc., when eating only raw foods?

I feel like there is more awareness here the past few years since I started
getting into raw foods, but I have a history of using food to sort of "dull"
myself past the satiation point, and I can do this with raw foods, too. Not
as easily, however. But when I am also doing yoga, meditating (formal and
informal) and getting plenty of exercise, I would say definitely yes.

Nomi,

> I have had some astounding experiences while doing "re-birthing" or really

awake.
> Opening of the third eye, filling the room with white light, healing. Is
this

Hmm, I don't know. What do you mean by opening the third eye? Sometimes I
get this cool (as in far-out cool) feeling in my forehead during
meditation. The white light and healing sounds wonderful. That hasn't
happened during my OBEs. Yet, that is. :)

Al and Priscilla,

Why do you like Yerba Mate? Is this really a food? I had the idea it was
an herbal stimulant of some kind.

I've started to put together a book, but have no idea how I will get it
published when it is finished, therefore I've been lacking in confidence,
especially since I have absolutely no money right now. Can you give me some
free advice?

Friends,

Thank you for being with me. In this message, I'll be boring, so you can
not read this. I know I never told you something good, but I have two
big problems with my Mom:
1. She has many health problems. We have only $40 monthly, so we can't
pay for house. I'm afraid we'll loose the house. My Mom wants to cut the
phone, the refrigerator, the TV cable. So, I'll have them only if I'll
pay for them. Sure, I must to pay half of the house keeping.
2. She is pushing me for getting married as soon as possible. I'm with
my fiance since 5,5 years ago and she don't understand I didn't get
married yet. I'm 25 years old, and I think I'm not too old and I can
still wait. I want to get married, but we don't have where to stay
together and we have no money for living. We decided to wait. But my Mom
is pushing us every hour for doing this. She said my Daddy died unhappy
because I'm not married. It's too much stress for me!

If you know any company which could pay me for working in Romania,
please help me. We have here our company, which has zero profit, but we
can doing many things. We can represent a foreign company in Romania or
we can only work for it. I don't know, but if you have any idea, please
tell me. I must to repay about $1,500 this year.

A question: what can I do for my hair, which now, because of being tired
and stressed, it becomes thin, dry and damaged. I have cut the points,
but is was no result. I have long hair and I don't want to cut it too
much. Maybe you know something that could help...

Thank you for all. I'm waiting for your messages.

Love,
Anca

Okay girls, listen up. I used the Omega coconut oil on my hair this morning
and it's awful! (Sorry Kelvin) I have been using this on my body during
the cold, dry winter we're having and thought I'd follow the suggestion of
earlier. I had oil residue on my hands, not even enough to warrant washing
my hands if I was getting dressed, so I ran my hands through my hair. Big
mistake! It looks like I haven't washed my hair in a week, at least. I
thought it might get better as my body cooled and I went outside where it is
cold today, but it is still hanging in strings. It's really nice and shiny,
but way too greasy for me. I have very fine hair that is thinning at the
moment and that may contribute to the problem. I've been using the Lily of
the Dessert Aloe Vera Gel and liked that very much and think I'll stick with
that method of hair care product.

Have you tried an internet search? Yellow Pages? Look for farmers
markets, health food stores, and supermarkets that sell organic foods.
That's what I do before traveling to a new place.

Whole Foods Market is known as "Fresh Fields" in Massachusetts. Wild
Oats is another similar national chain.

Dear Barry,

I appreciate your concern for our circumstances. We are not sure who
reported us to the authorities, but it does not matter. We have moved beyond
this as it is very unhealthy to dwell on the negative. We view this as a
blessing and we are using this as an opportunity to improve our services to
the live food community.

This April will be five years since we started our journey eating living
food. At this time we knew of no one else in the Atlanta area living this
lifestyle. We prayed for a living food community. Two years ago we went to
the first feast of the Kwatamini Holistic Institute and we felt like our
prayers had been answered. Then later that year the Living Food Institute
opened and we were thankful and felt as though our prayers were answered
again, people were being taught, and we would have the community that we had
prayed for.

Everything we have done has arisen out of a need from those wanting to have
a living foods lifestyle. We first began teaching out of our kitchen to
empower others to "feed themselves". We had requests to have dinners to
gather the living foods community together, so we built a commercial live
food kitchen and began having the Shinui Feasts. Then there were requests
from busy people who had no time to prepare living foods, thus began the
Live Food Van. As we continued to teach food preparation in our new
commercial kitchen, there were requests from those in the community who
wanted more basic instruction, and from this we developed our Live Food 101
course.

We have also been a haven for those who have had difficult surroundings and
a need to retreat to a living foods environment. There were those who needed
support, so we started our free weekly support group. Everything we have
done has been done because there was a need from the live food community. We
have been called to do this from a supreme spirit that is greater than all
of us. We have faith that this will be for the best for both Shinui and the
living foods community. We would like to see the speculation end and growth
in our community continue. We will continue to have the Live Food Van,
Shinui Feasts, Live Food Preparation Classes, and our Support Group, and
will continue teaching our Live Food 101 course, all in due time and from a
different location. Look for further news from us! We pray for peace and
harmony in the Atlanta Live Food Community.

Subject: Counter Point to The temporary closing of Shinui

Live Well, Be Well,

Subject: [rawlife] The temporary closing of Shinui

> Dear Living Foods Community,

>

> I am new to the Living Foods lifestyle, having seen what it has =
done

for

> my sister, and I only wish I had discovered it sooner.

> I live in NY and have been kept informed of the goings on in=20
Atlanta,

and

> it has been really good news... up until now.

> My sister has just informed me of the temporary closing of the =
Shinu

> Living Foods Retreat, and the circumstances that surround this =
event

compel

> me to write.

> I will not speculate as to whom actually "called the cops", but =
here=20
is

> what I do know. Although not having been there myself, my sister =

informs

me

> that the Shinui Retreat was doing a marvelous job at educating =
and

supporting

> the growing Living Foods community. The owners and staff were=20
delightful

> folks who honestly cared about people. The emphasis was not on=20
making

money,

> but on helping people and having a good time doing it. And, =
according=20
to

my

> sister, it showed.

> When they began teaching a Living Foods lifestyle class, another =
big

> Living Foods center tried to convince Shinui to not teach =
classes=20
(to

leave

> the teaching to them), and to only supply support and food to =
the=20
Living

> Foods community. They could then see their way clear to direct =
their

students

> to Shinui. This is appalling considering the value of the =
curriculum!=20
But

> this is also business as usual among business people...a =
practice=20
which

> occurs everyday in our free market society, and is to a large =
extent

> responsible for the ill-health of our society.

> Yes it may have been a neighbor who was disgruntled over the =
cars=20
that

> would park in front of the home who made the call (although I am =

told

there

> was only one neighbor who was effected, and while they would =
complain=20
to

the

> Shinui people, those who know them believe they would never call =
the

> authorities.)

> But regardless of who made the call, it is a pretty disgraceful=20
thing

for

> one institution that is teaching something so important as the=20
Living

Foods

> lifestyle to try and get another institution who is teaching the =

same

thing,

> to not teach. This kind of "I want it all" approach usually =
leaves=20
one

with

> less than they would have had if they had not been so greedy. =
And=20
that

would

> be equally as bad as the Shinui Center being closed. There are =
enough=20
sick

> and will-be-sick people to "go around". What we need is MORE =
places=20
that

> teach this invaluable information, not less. And anyone who =
actively=20
tries

to

> silence someone who teaches this, should be ashamed of =
themselves.

>

> The expression "Live and Let Live" has a double meaning =
here.

>

> Barry

>

> P.S. It is my understanding that the Shinu people are "fired =
up", and=20
will

be

> back bigger and better than ever. More power to them.

>
