  Hi,
Could you please unsubscribe me from the list as I will be travelling in
Australia for a few months. I look forward to meeting some Australian
raw-fooders. I have really enjoyed being on this list and have been
inspired and interested by its many topics.
Love and peace from Anne.

Subject: [rawlife] Apple pie recipe?

I have been trying to find a particular recipe, I believe from Rita Romano's
book, which I seem to have misplaced. This is what I remember:

peel and cut up some apples
soak overnight with raisins and cinamon in lemon juice
put in pie crust

Does anyone have the details (I don't need the crust specifically)?

I also found it was too sour and more like a salad than pie, so I found
mixing in ripe bananas helps the taste and texture.

Thanks, Bob Avery, for that info on minerals. Makes sense.

I always thought it was a joke when these doctors decide exactly how much
of each Vitamin a person needs in order to "stay healthy."

I think God must be laughing at us. We've discovered Vitamin A, B
vitamins, C, D, E, etc. But God is probably saying "What about the other
10 thousand vitamins and minerals I put in living food. Why haven't you
discovered all of them?"

I have a list two pages long of drugs that I have taken in the past, for
heart, high-blood pressure, neuropathy, hiatal hernia, etc., etc. From
time to time they discover that many of these drugs are harmful. Just
about a week ago I read where they are starting a class action suit
against the company that produces Propulsid....another one that I was on.
There are at least six others I was on that they now warn could cause
liver problems or kidney problems.

Another thing gets me.....they advertise something to stop a drippy nose,
but warn it could cause constipation, diarrhea, kidney failure, high
blood pressure, heart palpitations and a few other things.

Before you know it they will be prescribing one drug for a right nostril
drip, and yet another one for a left nostril drip. Anything to make
money.

Best regards,
Marie Betz

Hmmm, I eat the whole apple. Somewhere in Dr. Bernard Jensen's new book,
"Come Alive" he makes a comment about eating the entire apple. Claims that
what's in the seeds is good for you. I do believe it's arsenic or something
that resembles laetrile. Jensen says it's good for your colon and the
critters that try to live there. I wouldn't juice the entire apple as it
takes too many apples for a glass of juice, but when eating an apple by hand
(or is it mouth?) I eat the core and all.

The only recipe I can find in Rita Romano's book is for Baked Apples with
currants, walnuts & oranges.

While we're on the subject, I'm looking for a raw pumpkin pie recipe that
you have actually tried and liked. We are going for the 100% raw
Thanksgiving here and I need some traditional things for the family. Of
course there will only be the immediate family (the ones that live here) as
the rest of the fam thinks we've totally lost it.

Newsflash! Finally sold my stove! It's been sitting by the front door
since July. A woman actually came and paid money for it and took it away.
We are a truly stoveless household!! Now if I can wrestle the toaster and
hotplate away from the teenagers......

HI all,
Remember Molly, our pound dog. we got end of July when she was 13 months
think? Well, it's been several weeks, at least 4-5, that she's now a raw
dog and loving it. She gets her 2 hugh legs for AM, during day not excited
about eating, but has gotten to love almonds, dinner 6 ou. of turkey or
hamburger meat, lots of raw carrots with veggies that we are having in
evening and always raw garlic. I do add most evenings nutritional yeast,
kelp, lechithin, olive oil, water to make it mushy. This 40 pound dog or
was it 45 is doing awesome. Oh, yes she gets barley green powder we market
from AIM as well. She's loaded with energy and is a very fast runner.
She's very happy dog and we are blessed having her. Thanks Shari and
others for encouraging me, helping me along the way of knowing just what to
feed her. It's working now and always willing to learn more. I will start
adding Vit E to her diet as well. Haven't done the bone meal either. Not
sure about that.

Uncle Harry's http://www.uncleharrys.com/

Bob - my stove was replaced with counter top. I have an island where a cook
top can go if we ever feel the urge to sell the house. I think a stove
would be a selling point! Don't know where they would put an oven. Oh
well. I almost didn't want to sell it as some folks said it makes a great
place to sprout. But hey, I have all this cupboard space that used to be
filled with canned, dried, and otherwise dead food. I am using a large
cabinet for my sprouting nursery.

Well, Jacques didn't do as well as HE thought he should, but he still came
in 66. He wanted to be in the 50's and coach said he would be lucky to be
in the 60's. After it is all said and done we have the 300th fastest high
school boy in the entire state. That is his finish for all the sizes of
schools; A, B, AB, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and a couple 5As. Over 650 kids. Not bad
for a skinny vegan/raw kid. He had quite a blow though, his favorite camp
coach (not his school coach, thank goodness) said he would never recruit a
vegetarian because they are not healthy enough. This was an overall
statement not directed at him, but he took it personally. And how do you
argue with a man whose son is THE fastest kid in the state. Yep, Mr.
Meateater came in #1 and VegBoy is 300th. He's okay now, but was pretty
down Saturday night. However, he and a friend are doing a run on the 18th
through the forest and check points. He's looking forward to running in the
woods, that's his favorite.

Thanks for listening to me brag about my child, once again. Oh yea, and his
sister the really dyslexic 16 year old child came home with 5 A's and 1 C+!
That is the best she's ever done. And this is the first semester she has
been aware of her eating habits and has made a conscious effort to eat
better. Not 100% raw, but better!!!

Shari

They all do. They just abandon each drug as the facts become more
obvious how poisonous they are (or when the patent runs out) and move on
to touting the "new, improved" drug.

Because all drugs are poisons, they cause stress to our organs of
detoxification, which include the liver and kidneys especially.

>Another thing gets me.....they advertise something to stop a drippy

They already use one drug to counteract the "side-effects" of another and
keep going until a patient is on 50 different medications.

They are taught that symptoms = disease, no symptoms = health. They
don't understand that symptoms represent the healing process in action
and mustn't be interfered with.

Subject: [rawlife] last call

dear friends,

I am only inches away from (for the time being...) unsubscribing from the
list. The situation is:
I am living with my wife and two young daughters, all of whom are
enthusiastically SDD (dutch version of SAD). Personally I would like to
live as raw as possible, which I did for some 18 months, till about a year
ago. It was not easy, and took a lot of perseverance, flexibility and
improvisation on my part. There are no other raw fooders in my surroundings.
I know I can do raw for an extended period, enjoying it, because I like
fruits and like to live 'clean' and feel healthy. However, I also love
cooked foods in any form and quantity. Being surrounded by cooked and
attractive foods all the time proved too much for me, and being in a period
of personal and occupational hardship, I decided to give up and eat my fill
again. Gaining the old extra 15 kilos again. At the moment, I am looking at
another 12,5 years of cooked and unhappy family life until the kids leave
home and I hope to be a free man again.

This being as it is, it would be best to leave this list now, to return with
enthusiasm again in 12,5 years. (I know some things never change...) .
Before unsubscribing I would like to know:
a. if any of you recognize this situation and know of more creative and
positive ways to deal with it,
b. if there is another list (the twelve steps list, e.g.) which focuses
more on the hardships of 'kicking the habit', of dealing with this terrible
cooked food addiction in a hostile (foodwise) environment.

thanks

Ernst

"Sweet Sixteen" Joy Activators through a variety of fun experiential
activities.

It will be faciltated by five caring dynamic Instructors: Dr. Brandy Howe,
Tony Bedford, Jack and Gabrielle Loomis, Dr. Peggy Joy Jenkins.

It is being sponsored by Joyful You, a subsidiary of Joyful Child Inc., a
nonprofit educational organization that promotes inner joy. Author Peggy
Jenkins founded Joyful Child in 1990 after receiving a UNICEF award for her
book Joyful Child: A Sourcebook of Activities and Ideas for Releasing
Children's Natural Joy. She has trained facilitators all over the country
to teach the Joyful Child classes to parents and teachers. Soon she will be
training facilitators to take the "Activating Inner Joy" seminar across the
country. She says that there is a clamor among the general public to feel
the inner joy that is their birthright and this new seminar is and answer
to that need. Peggy reminds us that "Joy is an inside job" because it is
the feeling component of love -- that unconditional love of self and
others. Her favorite definition of joy comes from the ageless wisdom
teachings: "Joy is a quality of the soul and is realized when personality
and soul are in alignment." That is why, she says, that joy and ordinary
happiness are not the same thing. Peggy loves to share information on how
healthy Joy is for us. It heals, nurtures, and expands us physically,
emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. This is because it raises our
vibrations, she explains. She also reminds us that our joy is longing to be
expressed and that there will be many opportunities to do that in this
unique playshop. There will be creative expression activities, movement,
dance, meaningful exchanges, awareness expanding games, and lightening up
through laughter.

The Seminar is Nov.11 from 9 am to 5:30. A Bonus Evening is also available
at no extra charge. Lizard Head Hall is in West Sedona,AZ on Hwy 89A behind
Nationwide UPS.

The fee of $75 per person includes take-home materials. Bring your mate or
friend and pay only $10 for two.

I don't know answers to the specific questions you ask, but I can recommend
the book _Fit for Life_ which offers ways of using both cooked and raw foods
in ways that are very healthy (healthy afa cooked goes, anyway:)). It's
probably more than 50% raw and follows natural hygiene food combining
principles. I've been able to pretty much follow it for extended periods of
time - while surrounded by followers/proponents of SAD. It's easy to follow
the principles and still get alot of raw - which of course, is better than no
raw.

It always helps me to remember that the benefits of raw are 'dose dependent'
- - meaning the more I get the better for me.....and the the *risks* of cooked
are also dose dependent - meaning that the more cooked I get, the more risk
for me.....keeping in mind this dose dependent relationship keeps me doing
more raw than not.

it's the same mindset i've used to keep breastfeeding my daughter during the
tough times (nursing strikes, biting, increased night nursing).....the more
human milk she gets, the better off she is......

Ernst,

I am nearing four years all raw, and live with my wife and three children who
eat cooked. You seem to have already resigned yourself to eating cooked again,
I assume because it is comforting. If this is the case, then my recommendation
would be the more raw the better. For about one year before going "all the
way", I was "all raw until dinner". This was VERY EASY for me; I did not even
think of cooked until my drive home from work.

If you do go back to cooked, I would not under any circumstances incorporate
meat, it's just too poison, and I would try to make ALL of my veggies organic.
If you have not completely given up, then you should grab your bootstraps and
pull yourself up out of that morass of dis-ease that is the SAD, find, use and
keep a NETWORK (this list is one) of people who can boost your spirits when
you're down, and do your utmost to eliminate temptation.

I also would recommend reading Fit For Life (thanks, Katherine!), and to boost
your spirits right now, try a glass of fresh apple cranberry juice (three
apples and about 25 or 30 cranberries).

Good luck, and remember Spring is just around the corner!

Hal
