Called the "disease of 1,000 names", in Canada and the United Kingdom, it is known as ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) and in Japan as LNKS, low natural killer cell syndrome. The most descriptive designation is chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome or CFIDS (cee' fids). In articles concerning the problem, you will also find the acronym PWC, indicating persons with CFIDS. The disease was officially recognized in 1988. There are signs of CFIDS effecting people in western societies at least since the mid-1700's. Renowned persons like Charles Darwin and Florence Nightingale, may have suffered from this disease. WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF CFS? The symptoms of CFS are debilitating persistent or relapsing fatigue, substantial impairment in short-term memory or concentration, sore throat, muscle pain, muscle weakness, multi-joint pain without swelling or redness, malaise after exertion, lasting more than 24 hours, non-psychotic depression, low-grade fever, headaches of a new type, pattern or severity, pharyngitis, sleep disorder and enlarged or painful lymph nodes. CAUSES OF CFS Causes of CFS are antibiotics, drugs, a poor diet of junk food, the eating and drinking of refined sugar, refined starches, salt, condiments, coffee, coffee substitutes, chocolate, etc., poor digestion, emotional stresses, lack of sleep and rest, inadequate physical exercise, poor posture and poor body mechanics, lack of fresh air and sunshine, incorrect sexual habits, toxic habits such as alcohol, smoking and excesses of all kinds. It was originally called the Epstein-Barr Virus, but investigation proved that there were patients who exhibited the symptoms, but did not test positive for EBV, and were still sick. 3 million American people and many millions of people throughout the world, in Australia, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe, are effected by CFS. Originally, CFS was called Chronic Epstein-Barr virus syndrome or CEBV. Called the "disease of 1,000 names", in Canada and the United Kingdom, it is known as ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) and in Japan as LNKS, low natural killer cell sy! ndrome. The most descriptive designation is chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome or CFIDS (cee' fids). In articles concerning the problem, you will also find the acronym PWC, indicating persons with CFIDS. The disease was officially recognized in 1988. There are signs of CFIDS effecting people in western societies at least since the mid-1700's. Renowned persons like Charles Darwin and Florence Nightingale, may have suffered from this disease.  
                                 WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF CFS?
The symptoms of CFS are debilitating persistent or relapsing fatigue, substantial impairment in short-term memory or concentration, sore throat, muscle pain, muscle weakness, multi-joint pain without swelling or redness, malaise after exertion, lasting more than 24 hours, non-psychotic depression, low-grade fever, headaches of a new type, pattern or severity, pharyngitis, sleep disorder and enlarged or painful lymph nodes.     
                                               CAUSES OF CFS
Causes of CFS are antibiotics, drugs, a poor diet of junk food, the eating and drinking of refined sugar, refined starches, salt, condiments, coffee, coffee substitutes, chocolate, etc., poor digestion, emotional stresses, lack of sleep and rest, inadequate physical exercise, poor posture and poor body mechanics, lack of fresh air and sunshine, incorrect sexual habits, toxic habits such as alcohol, smoking and excesses of all kinds. These result in enervating (exhausting) the body and cause a systemic toxemia.
