Natural Eating for Health: Recipe of the Month
Raw Banana Pie

This delicious pie is from Ann Wigmore's Recipes For Longer Life.

The Filling:
3 bananas (organic if possible, commercial bananas are probably not worth the effort of this pie) 2 cups Almond Meal (ground)
½ - 1 cup spring water (maybe use some of the raisin/fig soak water) 1 teaspoon Cinnemon or Nutmeg (optional)
Blend almonds and bananas in roughly equal parts. Add enough water to attain a thick, pudding consistancy. Freeze until firm (1 - 2 hours).

The Crust:
1 cup Almonds, finely ground 1 cup Black Figs, soaked 1 hour
1 cup Raisins, soaked 1 hour ½ teaspoon Ground Cloves (optional)
Soak figs and nuts together, 1 hour. (Don't go too much over the 1 hour limit as the fruit becomes much too moist.) With a fork, press, mash and mix together ingredients. Press into a pie tin. Add pie filling, decorate and serve.

For decoration I cut a banana into slices and insert then vertically around the pie between the filling and crust - with one slice in the center. Sometimes I visually divide the pie into sections by slivering a date and placing them around the pie.
