Hi. My name is Leslie and i have been a raw food eater for almost three years. I started when i was introduced to JR on irc. I read his story and spent some time talking to him and was very impressed with how much better he felt eating raw. So I tried it. In the beginning I was very gung ho-eating 100% raw for about six months It made a tremendous difference. I had more energy, my skin cleared up and I no longer got PMS symptoms.

I became pregnant about three months after I began my raw food plan. I was about 80% raw throughout my pregnancy(I ate beans.....I tried soaking them and just couldn't get used to it.) I had a very healthy pregnancy and gained only 15lbs and yet delivered a very healthy 9lb 6oz boy. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within 2 weeks. Also, I had none of the water retention or heartburn that so frequently accompany pregnancy.

After he was born, I breast fed him exclusively until he was 11 months old, at which time I introduced solids. I have never fed him from a jar nor have I fed him that yucky powdered dry rice cereal.

He is now 21 months old and in the 90th percentile for height and weight. He eats about 90% raw like me. He has never had a cold or an ear infection. I do have to give him soy milk since I weaned him too early. I should have waited another year or so.

We eat very simply. I don't usually make recipes and try to eat only one mixed meal a day. A lot of what we eat comes from my garden. I grow tomatoes, two types of peas, cilantro, parsley, carrots, spinach, strawberries, raspberries, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers and onions.

Being raw has helped me a lot. I haven't gotten sick once in the last two years and I have tons of energy. Now I just wish I could gain control of other aspects of my life.
Reading all of your postings has motivated me to go 100% raw again.
Wish me luck!
